Chef Matt grew up a marine corps BRAT, working in restaurants from the age of 14. After graduating high school, he set out for New England Culinary Institute (Montpelier campus). From there he was hired at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley and headed west just in time for the 2002 Olympic Games. After making his way from line cook to Chef de Cuisine, Matt continued to look for new challenges and opportunities to collaborate with the many incredibly talented culinary professionals that populate kitchens of Park City restaurants - the last of which involved opening Handle with friends in August 2013.
Over the years, Matt has picked up expertise in many specialized culinary arts - from baking old-world-style sourdough bread and preparing house-made charcuterie using traditional Italian and Spanish methods, to authentic Japanese sushi techniques.
Now, as he continues to develop personal projects, Chef Matt seeks to provide intimate and personalized in-home fine dining experiences. He is versed in many types of cuisine and is comfortable accommodating all sorts of dietary needs and restrictions, including keto, gluten-free, and vegan lifestyles.
